I’ve had very reputable notaries tell me that two notaries can notarize the same document. I ask DFAT again today 2020/08/19 and the answer is no, you cannot have two notaries notarise a single document.

This makes life harder for multi-signatory documents where the parties cannot be in the same room at the same time. Often you will need to get lawyers involved to draft documents that only need one party to execute.

As always check to see what the other side requesting the documents is willing to accept.
